Air Efficiency Rating Scheme Pilot
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority is piloting a scheme to assist businesses with smaller compressed air systems to identify easy to implement, low-cost efficiency improvements.
The Air Efficiency Rating Scheme (Scheme) is designed for use with businesses that have a single or multiple compressors, each normally less than 75 kW in capacity. Businesses with larger compressed air systems can apply for a more comprehensive efficiency audit under EECA’s Compressed Air System Auditor Accreditation Scheme.
The Scheme provides tools for maintenance service providers to assess the efficiency of the compressed air system, identify where efficiency opportunities exists, and calculate an efficiency rating.
A properly managed, efficient compressed air system not only saves electricity, it also increases productivity, improves the quality of the output, and reduces maintenance.
The Scheme is being trialled through selected maintenance service providers (see box below), and it is planned to widen participation to other providers in the compressed air system industry later in 2010, following a public Request for Registration of Interest (RoI).
If your business has a single or multiple compressors each of less than 75 kW in capacity, and you would like to receive an assessment, please contact one of the maintenance service providers listed below.
If you are a maintenance service provider and are interested in participating in the Scheme, please contact Amanda Hunt (amanda.hunt@eeca.govt.nz or 04 470 2440) to register your interest in receiving a copy of the RoI when it is issued.
